Ma Xiuhong Emphasized Better Work of Trade and Economic Cooperation in Caribbean Area

On July 13, 3rd session of co-ordinating group on following-up work of Comrade Wu Yi's visit to 8 countries in Caribbean Area was held in Beijing. Ma Xiuhong, director of co-ordinating group and vice Minister of Commerce, presided the conference. Ma Xiuhong said that with common efforts of members of co-ordinating group，foreign trade and economic cooperation with Caribbean Area made a long-term development based on Ms Wu Yi's visit to 8 countries in Caribbean Area in 2003. Currently, relations between China and Caribbean Area were in the best period in the history especially the foreign trade and economic relations. Caribbean Area was one of the important areas for domestic enterprises to go out, each member should coordinate and play a function of cooperation so as to endeavor to do better relative work in Caribbean Area.

The conference summarized situation of performance on following-up work after Ms Wu Yi's visit to 8 countries in Caribbean Area　in January 2003, exchanged working experiences and existed issues and discussed how to prepare well the first session of "China-Caribbean Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Forum" in Jamacia at the beginning of 2005.

Participating members came to a consensus and expressed that they would enhance co-ordinating with each other to promote China-Caribbean relations with mutual efforts, especially China-Caribbean foreign trade and economic relations.

Member of the Co-ordinating group on following-up work included Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Civil Aviation Administration of China, China National Tourism Administration, Export-Import Bank of China, CCPIT etc. and leaders of 14 enterprises attended the Conference and gave speeches.
